Longmead Care Home, Caterham on the Hill, Surrey

With a wide range of facilities and tasteful decoration throughout, Longmead offers a comfortable, well-maintained, homely and compassionate environment for its residents.

Reception rooms

On the ground floor one finds three main receptions rooms. There is a bright, welcoming entrance hall which forms the lively central hub of the home. Immediately to the left is the nursing office which is just across from a spacious, well-appointed main lounge where many of the activities take place. The lounge has a large communal television set along with a fully stocked and well-used library of books as well as other forms of entertainment. The lounge leads into our most welcoming conservatory which in turn opens onto to the back garden via easy ramp access.

Overlooking the front garden is our bright east-facing breakfast and dining room. It is here that the residents are served nutritious, home-cooked food made from the highest quality local produce. All cooking is done by Longmead’s own chef on site and we cater for residents’ favourite foods, preferences and indeed their own specialist dietary requirements. The north corridor houses the resident lift and also has two large notice-boards. One details a myriad of forthcoming resident events and activities whilst the other serves the needs of staff, be it safety and training initiatives or important diary dates. Our well-equipped kitchen can be found at the end of the corridor while Longmead’s grand staircase projects upwards to a beautiful period picture window where a bright and varied collection of indoor plants bathe in the sunlight.

Residential rooms

Based on three floors Longmead House has 17 residential rooms, the top floor having the most commanding views over Caterham-on-the-Hill. All rooms are attractively decorated and furnished with hand basins and central heating. A wide variety of suite options and sizes are offered with some suites made available for couples. Some rooms are en suite with double capacity and a passenger lift serves all three floors.

All rooms are equipped with nurse-call systems and the home is fitted throughout with Certified Fire Alarm, Detector and Safety Lighting installations. Sensor mats can be placed in certain rooms to alert staff to falls etc. Where appropriate, residents may bring their own furnishings and treasured personal items. Specially equipped baths and showers are conveniently situated on every floor.

Longmead’s Grounds

A notable feature of Longmead is its attractively landscaped grounds which reflect the house’s rich history but most importantly serve to provide an inspirational, colourful and peaceful setting for our residents. Framed by our landmark front-garden pine tree, Longmead’s extensive grounds are deeply planted with a wide range of traditional English plant and shrub varieties which provide warm and varied garden colour from the early spring well into the Autumn. The rear garden has copious seating for residents to enjoy in the Summer months and is a true sunspot but suitably sheltered from the breeze. Our grounds are constantly cultivated and maintained

The gardens are secure, accessible for wheelchair users. Furthermore all entrances and exits are alarmed for residents’ safety.

A complimentary day at Longmead is offered to all prospective residents and we would very much welcome the opportunity to discuss your requirements further. Please do give us a call on 01883 340686 or drop us an email enquiry using the attached form or via info@longmeadhouse.care
